What are you giving up for Lent?

Today is Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Celebrated worldwide, It’s date is determined by Easter, and falls exactly 47 days before Easter Sunday.Traditionally, at the start of Lent we would be expected to try to give up something we enjoy as it is a season of reflection and preparation before the Easter celebrations. On a personal level, we could attempt to give up chocolate, but how can the principal be applied to our working environments?Well, at EWFM we have thought of a few:

Give up Hose LoadingLent products 2020

From our various visits to sites we see that workers are still using hoses to fill up tankers etc. This could be due to financial constraints or the mantra of ‘that’s the way we’ve always done it’. Although not unsafe, there are now quicker, safer and more efficient methods than using hoses, our Loading Arms and Unloading Arms for example. With articulated arms they reduce the need for manual handling, saving your operators back from carrying hoses.

Give up Overfilling

We are not talking about eating too many pancakes and chocolate. We are referring to the overfilling of containers such as IBC’s and Drums. Our Nozzles and Drum filling head offer overfill protection, which not only prevent fluid loss, but also protect your operator from exposure to potentially harmful medias.

Give up your Small Margins for Error

We all make mistakes its human nature. I once put salt instead of sugar on my pancake, and that didn’t go down as expected. But what we are trying to get at here is prevention of accidents. At EWFM we offer breakaways, designed to prevent drive away accidents which can result in expensive damage to equipment and fluid loss. We also offer folding stairs with safety cages to prevent the most common form of injury in a work place, falling from heights. So while you are all enjoying a lovely pancake tonight and decide what you are giving up for lent, bare a thought to what you might want to give up at work.Tel : +44 (0) 1763 248650Email : sales@ewfm.co.ukYou can keep up to date with our latest news and updates through our social media channels including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
