Making a Splash for World Water Day

Today, on March 22nd, we celebrate World Water Day! This annual United Nations observance highlights the vital role freshwater plays in our lives and raises awareness of the challenges millions face in accessing safe drinking water.

At EWFM, we understand the importance of clean water and are committed to supporting water treatment facilities.  We offer a range of products specifically designed to  enhance efficiency, optimise treatment processes, and ultimately, ensure communities have access to the clean water they deserve.

In today’s blog we will be delving deeper into the what the day’s really about and about the products that EWFM can provide to assist your water treatments goals.

Why do we have a World Water Day:

Since 1993, the world has come together on March 22nd each year to celebrate World Water Day. Established by the United Nations, this day raises awareness of the critical role freshwater plays for our planet and its inhabitants. This year’s theme, “Leveraging Water for Peace,” aligns perfectly with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established in 2015.

One of these goals, SDG 6, aims to achieve “water and sanitation for all by 2030.”  With a staggering 2.2 billion people currently lacking access to safe drinking water, World Water Day serves as a stark reminder of the challenges we face.

The theme for this year is inspired by the escalating tensions arising from water scarcity and pollution, which can strain relationships between communities and nations. Currently, global tensions have reached unprecedented levels, with over 3 billion people relying on water sources that traverse national boundaries. Despite this interdependence, only a fraction of countries sharing rivers, lakes, and aquifers have established cooperation agreements—just 24 out of 153. This underscores the urgent need for collaborative efforts to manage and safeguard our shared water resources.

How EWFM can support your water treatment facilities:

Even though the UK enjoys a relatively good water infrastructure compared to other parts of the world, ensuring our water is treated correctly remains paramount.  This treatment is essential to guarantee safe drinking water and prevent any potential illnesses when being used by the population. It is estimated that the UK used around 14 billion litres of water every day, which emphasises the importance of having the correct equipment when treating water before usage.

Driven by a deep understanding of the risks posed by compromised water quality, we unveiled our “Water Treatment Equipment” range in late 2023.  Our comprehensive “Water Treatment Equipment” line is designed to safeguard water against environmental hazards and ensure the integrity of treated water. Here are some key solutions within this range:

  • Geodesic Tank Dome: This innovative dome prevents hazardous emissions from escaping storage tanks while simultaneously keeping out rainwater, dust, and other contaminants.
  • Tank Covers: The ideal solution for discreetly concealing water and oil separator systems (API) and other installations. These covers offer additional protection from the elements.
  • Tank Corr: This corrugated cover provides a lightweight and cost-effective solution for covering water treatment tanks.
  • Tank Baffle: Optimize water flow within your tanks with our Tank Baffle. This deflector screen efficiently guides fluids, enhancing treatment processes.
