Marine Loading Arm Monday- Minerva

Calling all maritime professionals! It’s Marine Loading Arm Monday again! In this mini-series, we’re diving deep into our exciting new additions to the EWFM product portfolio – Marine Loading Arms.

Today’s spotlight shines on the powerful and versatile Minerva Marine Loading Arm. But what exactly sets the Minerva apart? Well, lets find out!

About the Minerva Marine Loading Arm:

The Minerva Marine Loading Arm is an innovative design that boasts a self-bearing construction, achieving balance through a clever cable pantograph system with two separate counterweights.

Efficiency is built-in:
  • Available in sizes ranging from 6″ to 10″ (DN150 – DN250), the pantograph system offers exceptional balance for both the inboard and outboard arms.
  • This system is not only lightweight but also requires minimal maintenance, extending to the easily exchangeable seals. No need for dismantling the entire arm and replacements can be done without any auxiliary equipment.
  • The robust design features an over-dimensioned Model 3-2ST Swivel Joint, ensuring it can handle the forces exerted during operation.
Built for Tough Applications:
  • High and low pressure: Suitable for a wide range of pressure requirements.
  • Extreme temperatures: Handles hot or cold cargo with ease.
  • Chemical aggression: Resistant to harsh chemicals commonly encountered during transfers.

While the Minerva excels in its standard configuration, EWFM offers a variety of options to further enhance its functionality:

  • Complete hydraulic operation for increased automation.
  • Manual/hydraulic Quick Connect-Disconnect Coupler for operator flexibility.
  • Emergency Release Coupler for enhanced safety.
  • Tracing and/or insulation for temperature-sensitive cargo.

This is just a glimpse into the capabilities of the Minerva Marine Loading Arm.

What’s the difference between a manual Marine Loading Arm and a Semi Self Supporting one:

When choosing a Marine Loading Arm, understanding the difference between manual and semi self-supporting models is crucial. Manual arms require complete manual operation for movement and rely heavily on external support structures like pedestals for stability. This makes them more affordable but also labour-intensive and potentially time-consuming to set up.

On the other hand, semi self-supporting arms offer some level of self-support through features like motors, allowing for easier positioning. While they still might require some external aid, they generally have a more robust base and provide greater flexibility. This makes them ideal for situations where space is limited but higher loading capacities or faster setup times are necessary. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your specific needs and priorities.
