Designed for floating roof tanks storing all grades of crude or refined products, the Secondary Compression Plate Seal “U” (CPU) offers a robust, low permeability secondary barrier that can be installed while the tank remains in service. Its galvanised or stainless compression plate with a synthetic rubber wiper and vapour-barrier membrane ensures smooth operation, minimal downtime, and compatibility with multiple rim configurations.

The Secondary Compression Plate Seal “U” (CPU) is a rim mounted sealing system for floating-roof tanks of any size storing all grades of crude or refined products. Its design allows installation while the tank remains in service, minimising downtime.
Each seal incorporates a robust compression plate, a synthetic rubber wiper and a vapour-barrier membrane. The compression plate can be supplied in galvanised or stainless steel, while the membrane is typically made from polyurethane-coated nylon fabric with very low vapour-permeability properties. Depending on your requirements, alternative materials such as PVC Nitrile, PTFE/Teflon or Firestop can be specified.
All fixings are located on the outside of the seal, leaving the tank-shell side completely smooth to reduce the risk of damage when the roof floats above the shell. The Secondary Compression Plate Seal “U” (CPU) can be attached to either a vertical upstand or a horizontal angle, and the compression-plate dimensions can be adjusted to suit a wide range of nominal rim spaces.
