API Coupler Proximity Switch

The API Coupler Proximity Switch is designed to indicate when the lever of an API Coupler is in the open or loading position. It can be fitted to both liquid and vapour API Couplers, including Models 750 and 750-LR, as well as Bottom Loading Arm Model 2454. This ensures precise monitoring of coupler status, improving safety and operational efficiency during transfer operations.

Loading arms can be equipped with electrical components to signal a variety of positions or conditions. Signals can be provided using either electro-mechanical micro switches or proximity switches, both of which are ATEX-certified for safe use in hazardous environments.

We provide three types of the API Coupler Proximity Switch to suit specific applications: electrical signals for open/close detection on Model 504 loading valves, connections for C-3659 dry-disconnect couplings, and connections for C-3682 vapour return couplers. These switches enhance operational control, reduce the risk of spillage, and improve system reliability.

API Proximity Switches:
Electrical signal for open/close 504 Model loading valve detection:
It signals when the loading valve gets opened by the lever. It can be realized with a EEx-d microswitch or a EEx-ia proximity switch.

Connection of the C-3659 model dry-disconnect coupling:
It is used to signal the API RP 1004 female part being connected to the respective male and the operating lever being turned in loading position. This signal is used on 740/750 or 2454-BC bottom loading arms. It is realized only with a proximity switch.

Connection of the C-3682 model vapour return coupler:
It is provided to signal that API RP 1004 vapour return female part (cam and groove) being connected to the respective male. This signal is used on 750 bottom loading arms. It is realized only with a proximity switch.
