Fireworks Night

Also known as The Gunpowder Plot and named after Guy Fawkes who, because of his military experience, was put in charge of the explosives.

We have a small connection to the Gunpowder Plot in that the offices of EWFM happen to be located in the Stables of the Hunting Lodge of King James 1. The Gunpowder Plot failed because Lord Mounteagle, who also lived in Royston, alerted King James 1 to his planned Assassination and the plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

Due to its incendiary properties and the amount of heat and gas volume that it generates, gunpowder was widely used as a propellant in firearms, artillery, rocketry, and pyrotechnics, including use as a blasting agent for explosives in quarrying, mining, and road building.

In the 16th Century there was very little in the way of health and safety so they were very lucky not to have blown themselves up having very little idea of how to handle, move and store chemicals. Luckily, we do. And like Lord Mounteagle can prevent possible disasters occurring!

Here at EWFM we can supply you with:
Breakaways to prevent accidental spillages
Loading Arms to move chemicals into tankers
Drum Fillers and Nozzles to transfer chemicals into drums for storage
• Hopefully you know about out hardened Swivels for mining

“Remember, remember the fifth of November, Gunpowder treason and plot”
