Cryogenic Example

EWFM Supporting LNG Market

Liquefaction is the cooling of gases to its liquid state – this is done using cryogenics at very low temperatures normally anything below −150 °C (−238 °F).

The most important commercial application of cryogenic gas liquefaction techniques is the storage and transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG). In its liquid form, LNG occupies about 600 times less space than as a gas allowing cost effective storage and transportation over long distances.

The 2018 World LNG report shows LNG steadily establishing itself as the fuel of choice in markets across the world reaching a global trade of 293.1 Million Tonnes in 2017. A 12% increase from 2016, a 3rd consecutive record breaking year and its highest annual growth since 2010.

How can we help

We offer a variety of products that are suitable for cryogenic applications down to -230°C   (-382°F) for use with gases and liquefied gases such as LNG, but also Liquid-Oxygen, Ethylene, Propylene, Ethane etc.  Our main products are Couplings, Breakaways & Swivel Joints with further products available upon request.

Couplings

Perfect for Container Discharge, Fuel Bunkering, Loading / Unloading of Trucks, Rail & Ship Tankers, Vapour Recovery Lines and fuelling of Ferries & Ships, our dry disconnect and safety breakaway couplers are proven to do the job.

Dry Cryogenic Coupling

Our Dry Cryogenic Couplings are a breakthrough within the LNG industry. With one single action, a straight forward push and a turning motion, to connect the couplings for a full flow motion. A quick and easy “turn and pull”- action will disconnect and close the valve with no spillage. These are used to prevent any excess spillage and protect people and environment from dangerous liquids and vapours.

    • EWFM Supporting LNG MarketAvailable in 1” to 6”
    • Minimum working temperature -200°C
    • MWP 25 Bar 1 to 4” Couplings
    • MWP 16 Bar 6” Coupling
  • Female NPT thread, EN1092 (DIN) and ANSI flanges, others on request.

Emergency Release Coupler

Our range of Emergency Release Couplers, available in sizes from 6” to 16” can be used with gases and liquefied gases both onshore and offshore:

  • Easy to reconnect without spare partsEWFM Supporting LNG Market
  • (No break studs)
  • Non-destructive separation design
  • Absolute zero leak tightness during operation
  • and after separation (live & laboratory tested)
  • Proven under severe service conditions
  • Fully functional even under massive ice build up

Breakaways

EWFM Supporting LNG MarketOur Breakaway Coupling has internal valves that will immediately close the flow in both halves of the coupling and therefore prevent accidents and unwanted spillage of product.  It can be installed at fixed points like manifolds, pipelines and depots or on to a hose:

  • Available in 1” to 6”
  • Stainless Steel construction
  • PTFE Seals
  • MWP 25 Bar 1” to 4” Couplings
  • MWP 16 Bar 6” Coupling
  • Minimum working temperature -200°C
  • Female NPT thread, EN1092 (DIN) and ANSI flanges, others on requestEWFM Supporting LNG Market
  • Used for container discharge
  • Fuel Bunkering
  • Loading / Unloading of tank trucks, rail tankers, bunkering and tank vessels
  • Vapour recovery lines

Swivel Joints

Using Nitrogen Purge around the ball bearings (to ensure they do not freeze) our standard cryogenic swivel joints are:

  • Available in sizes 1” to 8” however we can go to 48”EWFM Supporting LNG Market
  • upon request
  • Made from Stainless Steel 316L to provide enhanced
  • flexibility
  • Used on hoses by reducing its torque
  • Available in a variety of configurations, as outlined below, we can
  • cater for most requirements
