In today’s blog we will be doing a Q&A with a member of the EWFM team to ask them personal questions, about their time with the company and what their role entails. This will be a monthly blog which will give you an in-depth sight into how EWFM is run and the people behind it. The first Q&A in this series will be with Guy Curtis.
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I’m a 25 years old who loves being active. In the summer months I enjoy playing golf and going on walks locally and around the UK. During the winter I like to go skiing in the Alps. As well as that I like to relax by watching sports such as football, cricket, and golf. Away from sports I also like to watch TV series on Netflix. I am a very social person, so I appreciate being in the company of my friends and family.
How long have you been at the company:
I joined EWFM back in October 2014 so just under 7 years.
What roles have you undertaken during your time:
When I first joined in 2014, I started out as trainee sales engineer, after a year in that role I became a qualified sales engineer. During that time, the company faced the oil crisis which meant we had to diversify into other industries such as food and drink. I also played a leading role in the marketing and production of a new website for the company.
6 years later after a lot of graft I was promoted to become the sales and marketing manager for EWFM.
What is your current role:
My current role is sales and marketing manager. I manage the team to ultimately increase the sales and the number of enquiries EWFM receive on a day-to-day basis. While doing this I do everything I can to keep morale high in my team.
What does a usual day in the office have in store for you as Sales and Marketing Manager:
A day in the office usually starts with conversations with the team about the day ahead and what I expect from them. Then throughout the day I will be dealing with the full sales process which includes enquiries from customers, quotations, orders and after sales. I also manage the sales and marketing budgets and plans.
As well as that I explore new products that could be added to the current range and new markets that could be explored.
What is your favourite product and why:
My favourite product would have to be swivel joints. EWFM offer one of the most extensive ranges on the market. Be it a ½” bore for hydraulic oil to a 40” bore for a use with our floating suction units on a reservoir. We offer solutions for high pressures, hot temperatures, cryogenics, high loads, fast RPM’s etc. I love the variety; every working day is different with swivel joints and that’s exciting.
Finally, tell us about your experience of working at EWFM so far:
Working for EWFM has been brilliant. I love the variety; I am dealing with customers all over the world on a daily basis. One day I can be selling nozzles in Scotland to a whisky distillery in the food and drink industry and then the next I’m selling swivels for drilling in Canada. On top of this I am working with a fantastic sales and marketing team who all have the same passion to grow the company. The marketing world has moved on, it’s no longer what it used to be, pushing into the digital world has been an exciting process. All in all, it has been an amazing experience, it’s been tough at times due to what the world has thrown at us, but we have overcome every challenge to make us a strong company that is growing year on year.
Thanks to Guy for kicking off the Q&A series, please come back in September for the next Q&A with a member of the EWFM team.
If you are interested in one our products, please don’t hesitate to contact Guy or one of our sales team to discuss your next requirement wherever you are in the world, and we will be delighted to help.
