1. Product Compatibility

    One of the first things to look at when specifying a chemical loading arm is whether it’s fully compatible with the product being transferred. Within the chemical industry, applications can vary massively — from highly corrosive acids and solvents through to more temperature-sensitive or reactive chemicals — all of which place different demands on the equipment.

    Because of this, material selection is critical. All wetted parts, including pipework, seals and swivel joints, need to be chosen to handle the chemical properties of the product over time. In many cases, stainless steel construction and chemically resistant sealing materials are used to make sure the system stays reliable and safe in the long run.
