EWFM was selected to deliver a critical swivel joint replacement project at a major international airport in the UAE. The project involved the manufacture, supply, inspection, and on-site installation support of four 36” swivel joints forming part of existing floating suction units used for aviation fuel transfer.

Project Background

We were approached when the original units began to show signs of wear after extended service. Given the critical role these components play in Jet A1 fuel systems, reliability, safety, and traceability were paramount.

The client required a fast turnaround, guaranteed compatibility with the existing floating suction assemblies, and full technical assurance prior to installation.

Engineering & Technical Specification

EWFM provided a detailed quotation within days of the initial enquiry. To ensure seamless integration, we produced full technical drawings confirming exact dimensional compatibility before order confirmation.

Swivel Joint Specification:

MaterialStainless Steel 304 (1.4301)
ConfigurationStyle 20 (Straight)
ConnectionDN900 DIN2632 / PN10
Seal TypePTFE Compound Seal
Ball RaceDual Ball Race Bearing System

Operating Conditions:

MediumJet A1
Design Pressure0.5 bar
Leakage Test0.5 bar (air)
Pressure Test6 bar (water)
Temperature Range-10°C to +80°C

Quality Assurance & Testing

Quality and traceability were critical to this project. Prior to dispatch, each swivel joint underwent comprehensive Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), including:

  • Dimensional inspection
  • Pressure testing
  • Functional testing of the bearing system

To ensure full material traceability, documentation included:

  • 3.1 Material Certification in accordance with EN 10204-3.1
  • Factory Approval Test certification (Dimensional, Pressure, and Function Tests)

This structured QA process ensured compliance with the client’s operational and regulatory requirements for aviation fuel infrastructure in the Middle East.

Manufacturing & Delivery

Following a detailed technical review period, EWFM was awarded the order under a strict delivery schedule. All four DN900 (36”) Swivel Joints were manufactured within 10 weeks, a significant achievement for components of this size and complexity.

This accelerated timeline demonstrated EWFM’s capability of supply chain coordination, ensuring minimal disruption to airport fuel operations.

On-Site Technical Support in Dubai

As Swivel Joints of this scale are highly specialised components, the client requested installation oversight to guarantee correct assembly and alignment.

EWFM deployed a technical representative to Dubai to:

  • Assist with installation
  • Verify correct alignment and integration
  • Conduct final checks
  • Provide a detailed completion report

This on-site support provided the client with full confidence in both the product and the installation process, reinforcing EWFM’s commitment to delivering a complete technical solution, not simply a component.

Results & Ongoing Middle East Growth

Following submission of the full documentation package, the end user conducted a final inspection and review. We are pleased to confirm that all equipment and associated certification met the required standards and passed inspection without issue.

The project was delivered on schedule and in full compliance with the agreed technical specification. The client expressed strong satisfaction with EWFM’s responsiveness, engineering clarity, product quality, and on-site technical support throughout the installation process.

The Middle East continues to be a strategic growth region for EWFM. This project demonstrates our ability to deliver engineered solutions for critical infrastructure.
