The opposite to EWFM’s single arm floating suction unit, the double arm floating suction unit is an ideal solution where the height of the tank is greater than its diameter. The floating suction assembly is designed to draw fuel roughly 500mm below the fluids surface. This ensures suction of the purist fuel without the contamination of particles/scum which is often gathered at the surface. Unlike the single arm, roughly half way up there is another style 40 (2 x 90 degree elbows) Swivel Joint located, this allows the arm to reach the top of the tank whereas a single arm would be limited by the width of the tank.
Subject to the tank size a leg is then set to stop the floating suction assembly from drawing fuel off near the bottom of the tank where it may be contaminated with water. Consequently, not only do you draw the purist fuel but you also give a longer life to the water separator cartridges and increase their efficiency.
The single arm Floating suction units can be installed in a number of tanks including:
- Above Ground
- Below Ground
The tanks can be installed with either a fixed or floating roof. When a floating suction unit is required for a tank with a floating roof a trolley system is used instead of floats at the top of the unit. This means as the roof drops and rises the trolley effectively runs across the roof of the tank.
Here are some standard specifications of the range of floating suctions we can supply:
- 2”-30” Bore sizes
- Aluminium, Carbon and Stainless Steel Construction
- Permanently lubricated Swivel Joints
- Sampling Lines (To sample fluids at various heights)
- Level Indicator (To indicate what position the floating suction is at)
