EWFM helping to recycle

The amount of global waste is growing year on year and it’s estimated it could grow by a further 70% over the next 30 years to 3.4 billion metric tonnes by 2050.

In the UK alone it is estimated that every household produces over a tonne of waste each year meaning in the UK that we are producing approx. 30 million tonnes of waste, with over 50% heading to landfill.

Now more than ever it is becoming more and more critical to recycle and at EWFM we have been approached by and are supporting customers worldwide who are either involved within the recycling industry, recycling waste and plastic, or are using recycled products such as paper and steel.

Examples of this include:

In use on Bio Diesel Plants worldwide our Loading & Unloading Arms are providing the quality and reliability our customers require

With BIO suitable seals our vast range of Swivel Joints are being used with Bio Diesel products in various applications and are trusted by numerous customers worldwide

And our Compact Swivels (the most compact we believe on the market) have been working in Paper Mills, being the perfect solution for use in their production line

Installed in waste recycling centres, our great range of Access Systems, which includes manual, pneumatic and mobile Step Units and Gantries are providing a safe environment for their staff and customers

Are being used for connection to tankers to ensure there is always a quick and spill free connection and disconnection of hoses, preventing pull away accidents and unwanted loss.

We will always work closely with you throughout your entire project to ensure 100% satisfaction.  If you are involved in the recycling process and want to see how we can help you with your next requirement then, wherever you are in the world, get in touch with our Sales Team to discuss further, they will be delighted to help.

Spring is here

Spring is here

Spring is here, get out and enjoy these first days, look out for:-

  • The first bees emerging and the birds singing
  • The snowdrops followed by the daffodils and tulips
  • The trees budding with catkins and blossom
  • Have you heard the first cuckoo yet?

The long nights of winter have gone, it’s over a year since our first lockdown and the vaccination programme is in progress.

The clocks springing forward an hour in Europe also gives us an extra hour of evening daylight making, for many of us, a longer and more productive day. Leaving work for home in the daylight, being able to go for a walk, potter in the garden, have a round of golf; is mood lifting raising our spirits.

It has been shown that workers with access to natural light has a huge impact on their productivity.  Research has shown that daylight effects our creativity, efficiency and significantly our mental and physical health.

It is inarguably easier for workers to learn, think creatively and be productive when they are working somewhere with lots of daylight.

Playwright and Nobel Prize winner George Bernard Shaw was a strong advocate of the value of natural light for boosting his creativity and productivity. He worked for over 20 years in a specially-built writer’s hut that he designed to stand on a mechanical turntable, allowing him to move the whole studio on its axis to follow the sunlight.

I don’t suppose that George Bernard Shaw used a swivel to rotate his hut! but if it’s rotation you are looking for, take a look at our wide and diverse range of Swivel Joints helping Engineers, all over the world with their projects, whatever the application.

As always, get in touch with our Sales Team to discuss your next requirement wherever you are in the world and we will be delighted to help.

World Book Day

World Book Day, created by UNESCO in 1995, is a worldwide celebration of books and reading. With their mission to promote reading for pleasure, it is marked in over 100 countries around the globe, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.  Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success.

Books and reading are just as important for adults with studies shown that it:

  • Strengthens the brain
  • Increases empathy
  • Builds vocabulary
  • Prevents cognitive decline
  • Reduces stress
  • Aids sleep
  • Alleviates depression
  • Lengthens lifespan

Essential to books is the paper it is printed on and for many years at EWFM we have been supporting paper mills with the supply of swivel joints.

Our great range of compact swivels has been the perfect solution for use in their production line as paper machine steam boxes are indispensable to paper mill automation.

Our compact swivels are available in sizes from 2” to 12” in Carbon and Stainless Steel.  Available with high temperature modification making them perfect for use up to 210 degrees C.  We believe these are the most compact design currently available.

If you would like to see how we can support your business then get in touch with Guy and Mike to discuss your next requirement wherever you are in the world and they will be delighted to help.

Together

Valentine’s day – a day where people worldwide traditionally come together to show their affection for each other by sending cards, flowers, gifts or chocolates with messages of love.

These traditions have evolved a lot over the years. From the Middle Ages when people started exchanging handmade cards with love notes inside, to today, where billions of pounds are spent around the world on cards and gifts.

This year, the affection and messages of love will be more important than ever as many of us look to spend Valentine’s day on our own under national lockdowns.  Whether you are away from or fortunate enough to spend this Valentine’s day with your loved ones, feeling that we are all together and not alone is more important than ever.

At EWFM we have the same principles with our customers whether you’re far away from us on any of the seven continents of the world, or local to us in the UK.  It may not be as straight forward to come and visit your premises but we are always available at the end of the phone at all times throughout the day.  With a full range of video conferencing options available you will feel we are right there, together with you throughout your projects and beyond.  We would not leave our customers feeling they are on their own.

Guy & Mike can be contacted to discuss any requirement or project you may have and they will be delighted to help.

Festival of light

Festival of Light

Festival of Light celebrations are held in many cultures with probably the most well-known being Diwali which originated in India. Other examples include Hanukkah, Aomori Nebuta Matsuri in Japan, Chinese Lunar Year and Lunar Festival and Candlemas.

Candlemas, held on the 2nd February each year is celebrated in many countries across the world with feasts and processions. It is the last day on which to remove your Christmas decorations to avoid them being possessed by goblins (according to medieval tradition).

Once upon a time ability to have light during the long nights was very important, not just to be able to see to do tasks but to also brighten up those short days. Even though we are fortunate nowadays to just be able to push a switch, light has been more important than ever to many of us this year.

Many families put their Christmas decorations up earlier than normal to help bring cheer and to make us feel better with their twinkling lights. It has also been noticeable that many more have stayed up longer into January than I can ever remember.

This is a tough time for everyone and we would all like a little positivity in our lives. Some people get this from new exercise routines, baking their own cakes or by taking up a new hobby. Others will see the vaccination programme well under way and see light at the end of the tunnel!!

Many local communities are coming up with fun and intuitive ideas to keep the children and families entertained. Our local area is setting up a window walk during half term where people are invited to put up displays in their windows (as long as they are family friendly) for everyone to see whilst they are on their walks locally. This can include disco lights, candles (if safe and supervised) and even putting Christmas lights back up. All designed to help bring cheer and smiles to people’s faces.

At EWFM we are always looking for ways to help people and create positivity. Whether that is supporting our staff with flexible working arrangements, our local community by sponsoring local events and charitable causes or helping our customers with their individual requirements.

Long term relationships and customer satisfaction is what we pride ourselves on

New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions

A New Year’s resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western World but also found in the East, in which a person resolves to improve their life at the start of a new year; continue good practices, change an undesired trait or behaviour or accomplish a personal goal.

  • The origin of making New Year’s resolutions rests with the Babylonians, who reportedly made promises to the gods in hopes they’d earn good favour in the coming year such as resolving to get out of debt.
  • The Romans began each year by making promises to the god Janus, for whom the month of January is named.
  • In the medieval era, the Knights took the “peacock vow” at the end of the Christmas season each year to re-affirm their commitment to

I think that many of us have resolved to get fitter, if only to avoid the tedium of looking at the same four walls when working from home.  I know that I have been trying to walk for an hour each day and a colleague of mine has set himself the target of doing a marathon in the next 18 months.

It gives people something to look forward to and keep working towards. Even if they aren’t followed through completely, making a resolution shows that you have the belief and hope in your ability to change habits and become a better you.

Two weeks in, how are you doing with yours?

New Year 2021

2021…It can only get better

I don’t think anyone could have predicted 2020.  A year initially planned for many major events including the European Football Championships and the Olympics, all taken away from us because of one aggressive virus.

The pandemic COVID-19 has ruled 2020 as many countries across the globe have had to fight to keep it under control.  Many people have sadly passed and EWFM send our condolences to all those who have been affected.  We would also like to give our upmost gratitude to the NHS and all those across the globe who have had to face the Virus head on.

The working world has faced many challenges, the majority people having to adapt to work from home.  This has really shown the advancement of Technology, with Zoom, Teams and Skype all becoming our new best friends.  Many businesses have struggled and many have shown their intuition to diversify.

With 2020 ending and 2021 beginning there is now, we hope, an end in sight.  Vaccinations have been created and are now being rolled out in mass within the UK.  We hope that 2021 will give everyone a brighter future.

Despite this crazy year EWFM has surpassed expectations and flourished.  Amazingly we have seen an increase in turnover of over 50%.  This is down to the team’s hard work throughout the year.  Particular highlights include

We enter 2021 with some nice projects on the go.  In particular 4 x 20” Floating Suction Units for a major UK airport. 20 x 6″ Swivel Joints for Muck Spreading in the USA.  We are sure there will be many more.

Moving forward to 2021 it very hard for EWFM to shout about what we have planned.  It’s a weird time and there are a lot of unknowns about the future.  What we can guarantee is that we will be here to support our customers throughout.  We will continue to supply high quality, cost effective products on quick lead times.

Please keep an eye on our socials including LinkedInFacebookTwitter & Instagram, where we will share our latest news.  Look out for updates on Trade Shows (When we are allowed to exhibit again), New Products and much more.

I think we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel and all being well I hope everyone can enjoy the European Football Championships and the Olympics this summer.

Columbus Day Image

Columbus Day 2020

On 12th October 1492 Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas. Looking for a faster route to the Far East, he set sail across the Atlantic Ocean landing in the New World after approximately three months. Could you imagine the world today if it still took three months to get items across the Atlantic Ocean?

Fortunately, today, travel and the transportation of goods and technology is quicker, easier and much cheaper – and we no longer rely on a sailing ship!

Five centuries on from Columbus and the initiation of the Columbian Exchange, here at EWFM, we continue to support the introduction of products by helping our customers across the globe from our offices in the UK. In 2020 alone we have been working with individuals and businesses from nearly 70 countries and have successfully delivered products to all 7 continents.

At EWFM we can

  • Ship worldwide and door to door
  • Have continued to ship worldwide throughout the current pandemic

We always work together with you to ensure your items are delivered quickly and securely to ensure your complete satisfaction. So, get in touch with us today and start to build your long-term relationship with us, so we can help your business grow and operate safely.
